Luke’s Journal

Everyone dreams of finding treasure at the bottom of their garden…

In February 2015, while laying electricity cables so that his children could play ping pong in an old barn, rug designer Luke Irwin struck a cold, flat surface. There, about 18 inches beneath the muddy topsoil of his Wiltshire farmhouse, lay an untouched Roman mosaic – a striking pattern, unseen for some 1,500 years.

The Telegraph's fashion team have scoured the web for their dream high street and high end Valentine's presents. 'Les Billets-Doux'; gorgeous hand-drawn illustrations and French phrases synonymous with love are so much better than a WhatsApp message. The Telegraph

New Eco Rug-In-Rug Collection

Luke Irwin’s first collection of organic rugs, The Rug-in-Rug Collection.  Inspired by the use of natural fibres and undyed yarns seen in Native American horse blanket making.  The wools used are left completely undyed creating a tonal palette of natural colours. During the making process the rugs are washed only in water.

“Of all the languages, French, which is so rigid in so many ways, has created the iconic vocabulary of love. Our new note card collection ‘Les Billets-Doux’ is inspired by the notion of the love letter.  I wanted to explore the notion of writing a note to your friends, your beloved or even your family, to tell them that you are thinking of them. The ‘Les Billets-Doux’ are phrases for love in all its forms.”  Luke Irwin
