The Sunset Rug, part of the New Aurora Collection.
This collection is inspired by light, and J. M. W. Turner - celebrated as “the painter of light” - captures this beautifully in his striking work Sun Setting Over a Lake.
“In Turner’s atmospheric seascape painting, the sunset is vividly depicted, lighting up the sky in vibrant reds, yellows and oranges, reflected across the hazy water. At the right, passages of white paint may depict snowy Alpine mountains, perhaps those around Lake Lucerne” - Tate

The Aurora Collection
The Aurora Collection was inspired by my constant fascination with those two masters of light Monet and Turner. This collection revolves around how they treated sunlight, in all its various forms, and demonstrated that sunlight does not need to be executed in livid vivid colours. What we have tried to achieve here is the blending and diffusion of colour to represent sunrise, sunset, dawn, dusk and twilight. Luke Irwin
